Mission Scholars Interest Form

Are you looking to explore your faith?

Submit this interest form to be contacted about the Mission Scholars program, where students participate in faith activities and invite their classmates to learn more about their own faith journey. As a Mission Scholar, you will pray daily with your fellow participants, attend represent the university in large events on campus, and participate in other prayer and outreach activities throughout the academic year. Students selected to join the Mission Scholars program can receive up to $5,000 per year in scholarships.

Students receiving athletic scholarships are not eligible for the Mission Scholars Program. Current Mount Marty students are not eligible for this award, and only first year or transfer students looking to attend the Yankton campus as an undergraduate student will be considered.

Read the article, The Story of Benedict by Sr. Marielle Frigge.

Prompt: As Sr. Marielle says in the article, the most important “work” for Benedictines and for all Christians is to seek God. “St. Benedict says repeatedly that ‘the divine presence is everywhere’….Anyone who listens attentively can perceive this divine presence, even in the most mundane and unlikely circumstances.”

After reading the article, first, reflect on what St. Benedict says about where – various places, situations, people, etc. – we can experience God’s presence; and how – what we need to do to find God in various circumstances in our lives. Then, describe your thoughts and reflections in an essay, including where and how you seek God and experience God’s presence in your life. Use specific examples as much as possible.
